A good unsigned brass frame flintlock turn off pocket pistol with spring bayonet to the underside.

£1250

A good unsigned brass frame flintlock turn off pocket pistol with spring bayonet to the underside. Scroll engraved slab sided brass frame with centrally mounted cock and safety catch to the rear. The underside struck with Birmingham commercial proof marks. Star burst engraved trigger guard to the underside. Slab sided smooth walnut grips. Round blued smooth bore barrel with tri corn blade spring operated bayonet blade to the underside deployed by pulling back on the trigger guard (Spring weak, does not fully deploy the bayonet). A typical small pocket self defence pistol of good quality made in the late Georgian age but with the additional defensive capability of a quickly deployable bayonet to make an effective dagger should the ball not disable an attacker or in the event of being set upon my multiple assailants. In very good condition with good bore and mechanics, the bayonet spring a little weak, with nice clean sharp grips and much blue finish to the barrel. A pretty little self defence arm with the desirable and scarce built in bayonet.
