.75” London proofed military pattern flintlock trade musket and socket bayonet by T. Potts of London. Flint lock with ring neck cock is engraved to the front of the cock T POTTS LONDON (frizzen spring at fault resulting in sloppy throw over of the frizzen). Straight hand walnut stock with military pattern brass furniture including two rammer and one throat pipes and serpentine side plate to the left flat. Smooth bore .75” barrel with bayonet stud / front sight to the muzzle is struck with Victorian London proof marks with crown inspection mark to the breech. C/W its commercial pattern ‘Common’ socket bayonet with tri corn blade. Made by the trade to the military pattern of the day for sale to volunteer soldiers, ships companies or private / commercial concerns who required weapons for defence of property or staff these muskets were widely used all over the Empire. In good condition with good bore and mechanics other than the weak frizzen spring with a nice sharp stock and good bayonet. A classic trade flintlock of the early Victorian period by one of the famous London retailers of such weapons.
